It is extremely important to have a plan and an understanding of what you will need to do after rhinoplasty. For the first few weeks after surgery you must listen to your body and take things easy. Make sure that you get plenty of rest. Even when you are going about ordinary daily activities such as washing, taking a shower and even sleeping your head should be slightly raised. You should avoid strenuous activity or exercise for at least two weeks as this will negatively affect the healing process.

Wait a couple of days before having your first shower after surgery. Your face will be very fragile and you do not want to undo the good work that has just been done through surgery, It is also best to have a cool shower and very gently wash your whole face with soap and water. Never exfoliate your face at this stage, you are ok to wash your hair as normal whilst keeping your head slightly tilted add plenty of products to your hair so that this is an easier task for you at this stage,

After the first few weeks most, things can and will start to go back to normal. But it is still best to avoid some things for the first six weeks, sunbathing isn’t recommended and apply sun cream in abundance around the nose even if you have to be out in the sun for small periods of time. If you do not take care the nose could actually pigment which can be permanent.

You should not smoke for at least two weeks after your nose operation and lots of surgeons actually recommend this as a fabulous time to stop, just think of eliminating those smoking lines around your mouth by giving up! Smoking can also cause damage to the nose and could lead to infection. It is also recommended to avoid aspirin for a week as this can thin your blood and encourage nose bleeds. You should also not moisturise to apply creams to your face for the first couple of weeks.
